50 years of Forest in Brazil

The conjunctural analysis of April 2010, the Intelligence Center in Forest, this year we celebrate 50 years of Forestry in the country, seeks to highlight, besides the problems related to the markets for forest products, the contribution forestry had to propel the forestry business. By the early '60s, the forestry sector was not very expressive for the Brazilian economy and there were no schools in the country specializing in forestry limiting technological development activities of the sector. However, from the mid 60's, various government actions, such as creating the Brazilian Forest Code, the Brazilian Institute for Forestry Development (IBDF), formulation of policies of fiscal incentives and forest engineering courses boosted significantly sector.
